Oh man, I'm thinking I "need" to go to this. Picked up Jason Aldean tickets for the family for August in Hershey, so I think an April scouting trip is warrented.

Is the park actually open during this event. Is there anything else to do in the area during the day?

Reason I'm asking is my friend and I would like to go in our cars 993TT and 996TT but we would also like to bring along our girls and possibly his 2 kids.

The girls are mid 20s and he has a toddler and an infant. You know nobody in that crew is going to be happy wandering around a parking lot for a whole day. Need activities for them to enjoy so they will let us enjoy!

Spending a day wandering the parking lot is too long for almost everyone. IIRC, Hershey Park is open at that time but, of course, weather could be great or not so good. Another alternative is the Antique Automobile Club of America museum. It's only 2-3 miles away. On April 27 they will have a Porsche-oriented exhibition as well as one about British bikes in America. But my main reason for going every year is that the organizers from Central PA PCA always have really cool commemorative shirts

I'm flying into Philly about 7pm, then on the road to somewhere closer to Hershey for the night.

Not looking to buy or sell, more to soak in the atmosphere as ilko describes.
Magdaddy, is the beer and cheese in NY?

Hope to see you there AND hope the weather is decent.

All are welcome at Casa de Cactus on Fri night but don't expect the Biltmore. I live in a townhouse with a 2 car garage but we will fit everyone in somehow There is a hotel (2-3 star maybe) nearby that Joe and Mark usually stay at so that is a possibility. It is walkable as well

As if anyone needed more reason that that ^^

First and foremost, the best reason of all to be in Hershey, PA on the 20th of April is the largest Porsche centric swap meet in the nation, possibly the world. The swap opens early on Saturday morning, so be sure you get there before sun-up to get the deals, and keeps going into the early afternoon, or when all of the parts are gone.

Related activities during the weekend include a Porsche-Only autocross on Sunday for you to prove your meddle (and that of your Porsche), as well as a Porsche-Only people’s choice “concours” car show during the swap meet. Winners of either event are eligible to receive trophies and “swag”, so why not have a little fun and enjoy the event.

Reason #2: The AACA Museum’s “Porsche Style & Design”

The AACA Museum, now in its tenth year, is playing host to an extraordinary collection of Porsche automobiles. From an early Porsche designed Volkswagen to the newest 991 cabriolet, the assembled vehicles are far reaching and all encompassing. Vintage and modern racing cars, aircooled and wasserboxer, the rarities and those more pedestrian, this exhibition has them all.

■1947 Volkswagen Beetle
■1955 356 Continental Coupe
■1956 356A Speedster
■1957 Porsche Standard Tractor
■1958 718RSK race car
■1959 356A Carrera GS Coupe
■1963 901 prototype
■1963 Elva-Porsche MK VII race car
■1963 356C Carrera 2.0 GS Cabriolet
■1963 Volkswagen Beetle
■1964 902 prototype
■1969 911T
■1973 911RS right-hand-drive coupe
■1973 911RS lightweight coupe
■1973 911RSR race car replica
■1974 Porsche 914 Pace Car
■1977 930 Turbo
■1980 Interscope/Porsche Indy car
■1981 924 Carrera GTS Klub Sport
■1985 Royale-Porsche RP40 GTP-L race car
■1988 959 coupe
■1994 968 coupe
■2013 911 Cabriolet

The museum hours are 9am to 5pm every day, and the exhibit runs through April 28th, so be sure you see it before it is gone.

Reason #3: An Evening with Karl Ludvigsen

Guests of the AACA Museum on the evening of April 19th will be welcomed with an array of German food and drink. The atmosphere will exude Porsche, as the “Style & Design” exhibit encroaches on the celebration.

After the initial reception, legendary Porsche scholar Karl Ludvigsen will be giving a presentation based upon his newest book “Porsche – Origin of the Species”. One of the earliest production Porsche models, a Gmund Coupe currently owned by Jerry Seinfeld, served as the book’s inspiration. Mr. Ludvigsen will also be signing copies of the book after the presentation, as well as other books from his dozens of published works. Copies of “Excellence Was Expected” and “Origin”, as well as other Ludvigsen titles will be available for purchase at the event.

“An Evening with Karl Ludvigsen” is a special, ticketed event that kicks off the swap meet weekend. Tickets are $85 dollars for the evening, and are available online at the AACA Museum website or by calling the museum at 717-566-7100 ext. 100. If you are going to be in Hershey for the swap meet, you should definitely plan to arrive a night early and spend it at the museum. In the event you can't make it, we'll be going and will give you a full recap!

Reason #4: Sell your Porsche, or buy another one in the Car Corral

For the low price of $25 dollars, buyers can enter their cars to be parked in the Corral for sale. Hundreds of captive buyers, dealers, and collectors will be trawling through the lot, seeking their next (or first) of Zuffenhausen’s best. No pre-registration is required, simply ask to be included when you arrive.

Reason #5: Why not visit Hershey’s Chocolate World?

Need a way to convince your significant other that it truly is a family friendly weekend. Look no further. Open from 9 am to 7 pm on the weekend of the swap meet, you will have plenty of time to stop in for a refreshing and delicious chocolate treat. From bean to bar, see how Hershey’s creates their candy br taking an interesting and informative factory tour. For more information, visit Hersheys.com/ChocolateWorld.

Mark your calendars for April 19th, 20th, and 21st and go check out the Hershey Porsche Swap Meet.

The syncronized drinking is optional by the way, everyone is free to over consume at their own pace.

Well, I've booked my Wed and Thu tee times in Las Vegas on the front end of the trip. Funniest thing is one of those rounds could have exceeded the cross country airfare to go to Hershey (and more importantly the Friday night festivities?).............
