Thanks guys!
Dr No > Thanks! I love Ocean too. What color is the one in your profile Zenith?? I love Zenith too - hard to find.
bbstt>You got at least 24 maybe 48 hours at the rate I'm going! You know you are right about the roads being boring where we live. That very thought occured to me on 158 (see below) today and I admit it made me a tad sad. The guys who live close to nice roads have it made!
Doug> Looks like I missed that one too damn it! I am going to print it out and start a folder though at home and that one is going in it. Now, when are we going to put the motor back in your sc???? You are sitting on a gold mine of fun there.
Ed Hughes> AGREED
Best drive today was the 40 odd miles along 158 that connects I95 at Roanoake Rapids to Kerr lake on I85. Man it was just completely awesome winding road with minimal traffic. It was just awesome.
Then headed west on I40 into the Smokys. (pic) that's a fun winding drive too.
Overnighting in Sylva NC tonight! Never thought I'd be typing that last week! Plan is to try the Tail of the Dragon tomorrow. about an hour away. If I get a late start and have a hearty breakfast it should give it a chance to warm up. I hope there is no precip tonight. I heard conflicting things in the news. But it is suppose to freeze here tonight and needless to say if we get any precip with that then the Dragon is out
Kind of slacked on the pics today sorry.... I had some perfect ops along that 158, just awesome. I should have stopped but I just couldn't.
here's some anyway: appoaching the smokys....
Sylva BBQ (lense started fogging) but can you make out the bailbonds sign - hilarious
and view from the room. The rooms keep getting smaller but the view keeps getting better

Thanks guys!
Today, was amazing. Got to drive the Tail of the Dragon. Youtube search it if you are unfamiliar. I was spoiled, in that I only saw 3 other cars on it. 200 and something turns in 11 miles! Ideally It's a second gear road, but I deliberatly did it in 3rd for the most part to play safe that kept the rpms down in in the 2500-4500 range. I tell you our cars are MADE for that road.
As good as that was, I enjoyed the approach to it from Sylva along 28 even better. It was about 30 minutes worth after the last house or office with nothing. No cars nothing just winding roads that are 45-75 ish. It was really just an awesome drive. So much better than the decent going down after the Tail on the the other side into Tennessee which is a 55mph street too but full of houses and loose dogs If you have a choice take 28 from Sylva, you won't be dissapointed. You know if that is too much to remember . Just remember the Smoky Mountains. It's a must do.
One more comment. This afternoon I hit 993 miles and soon after 1000 miles with my car today. I got to say, I just absolutely love this car even more than I thought I would.
Check out the pics....
bbs993tt> replied thanks!
csmab> for sure. We need to coordinate and make sure and go the same month. Two midnights in Plano. Are there more? We'll make our own club have special titles drink lots of beer and then try and find our cars lol!
P-daddy> Thanks! I really liked that third one with the Capitol in the background. Wish I'd brought a real camera

Made it home safe and sound!
My last day I left I30 and took the Talimena Skyway the back way home thru Arkansas and into Oklahoma. It's ironic, that 2 of my best drives on the way home (this and the Dragon) crossed state lines. Talimena AK/OK & the Drag NC/TN) You are on a tiny two lane road - both way off an interstate - yet both states proudly display Welcome to the State signs. That says something. It's a great drive with great scenery. Although it was winter with no foliage, it was still truly beautiful. I got some pics below but if you click this link you'll see some pics that show it in color. Might be a copy paste link...

Guys, I loved my trip and my car even more. Thanks to everyones warm wishes and to all that made contributions to this and other Porsche websites. I've learned so much here prior to purchase and even referenced the site multiple times on the trip with queries about the car, and the answer was always just a search away.
Final mileage 1857 Does that get me in the top 10 for roadtrips home? It doesn't matter. It was MY top 1 road trip home
