Get a 996 or 998 (better bikes) there are tons of them around - just go on the Duc forums. Bought by old gits who always imagined owning a Duc, they mod them with the best parts, fawn over them but never ride them!! You can get them dirt cheap ($7K-$9K gets you pristine, low mileage examples).
I got mine for hardly anything after the guy had just done $10K in engine work - I ride it all summer long!! Great bikes - but - they're not Yamahas!!!

Always loved the RC30. Also a fan of 2 strokes. The Yamaha and Suzuki 500's of the early 80's were the inspirational first Super Bikes. I know it could not spank an RC30 but I think the RZ500 would keep it honest. As with most the cars and bikes I have they need to have an unusual engine, air cooled 6 or V4 two stroke. This is a 1984 RZV R, Japanese only version with an aluminum frame as opposed to the ROW steel one.

Ridden for a few years and can appreciate the RC30 (and asst Ducs and such) but my body just won't let me ride in that position for more than a couple of min. I'd have to be straightened out on a rack when I got off one of them.
Congrats on the find, enjoy it in good health! Love the pics too.

This is my 748R from 2002. As a track day machine it is perfect. If I was after a street bike I would look elsewhere. The same can be said about the RC30. My mechanic once said that I would throw the bike in the ditch halfway to his shop from my where I live if I would buy one. Maybe he exaggerated a bit. One day I have to find out.

While on a day ride in the Black Forest with friends, I got to switch rides with another rider; I on his MV Agusta 750 F4 and he on my old BMW R65.
Less than 20 clicks later I was only too happy to get back on my BMW.
I've done lots of 1000 mile days on my BMW. No way I could do that on the MV; not on that seat and raked over like that.
But...it is three-dimensional art fit for display in any living room. Its Italian; you can't beat that styling!

The R65 was a bit small for me, but it took me to places most can only dream of and it was (no surprise) bullet-proof. The last 8 years there were on my 2004 (RIP) and 2003 BMW R1150 GS Adventure. More to my liking size-wise and it has incredible range (I hate stopping for gas).
Here they are together for the last time...
