Default Windshield Replacement in NJ

My windshield developed a nice crack right in front if the driver thanks to a stone thrown up by another car on the highway. Looking for a reputable shop to replace it. I'm located in hoboken but the car is in bergen county for the winter.

Any recommendations? Any estimates as to what it should set me back?

Call Bob at Stable Energies in Garfield; he'd be a good referral source. Cost depends on OE vs aftermarket glass.

Thanks.

I called Bob, I've actually met him a few months ago when I stopped by his store. He recommended American Mobile Glass...Anyone have any experiences with them?

I think bodymotion by the shore would do a good job. If you don't mind crossing the river, i've heard good things about martino auto concepts.

You can call Matt at CD autobody and ask him who he uses:

http://www.cd-autobody.com/

He is very particular about the quality and his work has a good reputation, albeit on the high end of the price scale.

When it's all set and done i would have the windshield protected with a clear film. These guys did my car and they're near you. http://www.topofthelinetint.com/auto_01.html
They're also in the business so you may want to ask them who they recommend for pcars and high end cars.

Also heard of places that do rock chip repairs but not familiar with the process or who does that kind of work.

Good luck!

I am a Nationwide agent and had my windshield replaced after purchase in 09/2012. Since it was cracked when I purchased, the seller agreed to pay. I called Safelite, Nationwide's primary glass handler, and submitted as a NON claim. Safelite gives Nationwide insureds the insurance company rate while allowing the insured to pay directly. As we know, there is no after market for the windshield. Factory cost was $733.61 installed by an installer who knows the 993 well. New rubber seal included. Part Number FW02032 GGYP $1004 List price. Great job and result.

I had Safelite do mine and would NOT have used them had I known what hacks they are. They re-did the install the first time because the tech totally gooped up the bead with way to much sealant.

Second time they went sparse on the sealant and now the thing makes noise constantly. I've decided to go to have it re-done by the small shop that specializes in p-cars here in Bucks County this summer.

Safelite is an utter hack. I would not let them near my pickup truck after seeing what they did to my old explorer that caused leaks and rust. They suck.

I was not recommending them just the concept of paying the insurer rate. Since I knew a glass tech with 911 experience, I felt comfortable with the install and it turned out well. In my area of VA I am not aware of any complaints from my insureds but appreciate the feedback.
