1997 Nice Driver C2 For Sale Silver/Gray Texas (Lubbock) 83k, $24,000
This was my first 993. I bought it locally and have driven it about 2,000 miles since June of 2011. Car now has 84,325 miles. I bought it on a whim and decided I like it more than my Boxster. Like many on this forum, I couldn't resist moving up to a wide body so the C2 needs to go.
This is a great running car - engine runs strong and does not burn or leak oil, clutch and transmission suggest no hard driving, great brakes. But it does have a history. The car was in an accident in 2004 and issued a salvage title. Michigan gave it a "rebuilt" title in 2005 and the current Texas title sheet is clean. My mechanic couldn't figure out where it was damaged, but guessed that it was the rear end. The car tracks perfectly and it appears to have been repaired properly. I am the third owner and the second owner drove it from 2005 to 2011.
It has the aluminum parking brake and shift lever, as well as the hifi option with 6 CD changer. Leather is in good shape with usual scuffing on drivers edge and carpet is not pristine, but very passable.
Car had a turbo tail when I bought it, which I replaced with a resprayed original tail (never hooked up the spoiler). Also replaced the center reflector with a new one. New Dunlop tires. I have the rubber bumper seals that are sticking up but haven't replaced them yet. Sunroof works great and windshield was replaced right before I bought it. Some minor paint imperfections on the front and rear bumper. AC isn't currently working, but was last year.
I made the rookie mistake of buying a used set of H&R coilovers. It is now lower and handles better, but the front shocks are shot and need to be rebuilt (the car sounds horrible over bumps). You can live with them if you have smooth roads, but they'll eventually need to be repaired or replaced. I decided to live with them for a while.
Intermittent CEL, but does not throw any codes. My mechanic thinks it is the brake lever, but I have no idea. Lubbock does not have emissions testing.
This is great driving, good looking, reliable introduction to 993 ownership. Not a car for the purist, but a car for someone who wants a mechanically solid weekend driver. I'll be in Arizona for the auctions late next week, but otherwise you can reach me at 806-543-6724. Looking for any easy sale at $24,000. There are 3 possible PPI shops in Lubbock.

Really nice, honest description of what sounds like a fun car to tinker with and make nicer. Good Luck with the sale.
<edit>: Oh yeah... if you're going to get a wide body, go straight to a turbo. Don't pay near turbo money for an NA car... you'll thank me in 10 years when you think about selling.

I should note that my signature indicates the car has Fister 3s - it is now back to stock (swapped with new car). I like the looks of the wide body, but I have to say that this car feels a little more lively than my new 4S.

Nice, clean, triditional coupe for the dailey driver in all of us ... GLWS.
Gotta luv the look of the triditional black engine grill, call me ole fashioned. Removed the body colored split grill and never looked back.

Nice car -- but have to say, between the salvage title, unknown accident history, and long list of items that need to be fixed, doubt you'll get very close to asking price. The same car with clean title and no fix-it list only sells for $6-8K more.
