After a lot of different tries (Cerakote, silver and black, stock gold) I finally got the emblem that I think fits my car best. I know there I will hear it from the "keep it stock" contingency, but the gold on black was really starting to bug me-maybe gold would've looked better with amber turn signals. In any case, thought I'd post the results in case anyone else was thinking about it. Also went with a new stance and PSS!0's that I will be posting soon. Happy New Year !

Very nice! Gold is for the long hoods, IMO...
One 8mm long socket to remove the old crest, followed by 1 hour of patiently massaging the (warmed) new gasket around the new crest, followed by one 8mm long socket to re-install.

It's actually a pretty bright silver but the car is in the shade. Tools needed are as described above. I found my gasket was still pretty flexible and had no problem with that. I used an extension attached to the 8mm socket.

One of the neat aspects of changing the badge because the one on your car "really starting to bug me".
Is you can clean the new one with q-tips!

Is it only Porsche owners who would want to change the colour of the OE Porsche badge, or are owners of Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, Bugatti,, Audi, McLaren, Konigsegg, Lotus, Bentley or Corvette similarly affected?

I don't know why they would. Just about every car badge I can picture is silver except Lambo. Gold badging in the 90's was cheese on Cadillac, Lexus, etc. The gold badge on a Porsche is classic because of the history of the marque but it's easy to imagine wanting a cleaner look with silver especially on a black or silver car with clear corners to get a more monochromatic look.

It doesnt look out of place to me especially with the color still on the badge stripes. It might look well worn from a distance I would guess and if you got up close you'd probably notice it's silver instead of worn through gold. The old ones always make good desk or tool box decorations.
