I just removed my head unit, amplifier and speakers. I will list the components tonight when I get home. I do have the hifi option. The fronts are a Focal brand component setup. The tweeter was fit into the existing tweeter pod, the stock mid range was left in place and disconnected, the new driver fit in the existing hole, the crossover was fit into the existing hifi speaker box. The rears are a two way that fit in the existing driver position on the rear panel, the stock tweeter was left in place and disconnected. The amp is a JBL I believe and was located under the passenger seat. The head unit is a Kenwood. This all sounded pretty good, decent output and clarity while maintaining a basically stock appearance.

Sounds great [no pun]- appreciate some idea of the cost of the components / total.

I do not think I have any of the receipts but you can probably look them up when I post the model numbers.

You don't have receipts!

Surely you have some idea of the total cost though!

I replaced the head unit first. Then the amp blew so I replaced the amp. Then the speakers blew so I bout speakers. I think the head unit was around $350, amp $450 and speakers $750 but I could be way off. I try not to pay attention to the cost, it often scares me.

How right you are. I made the mistake of downloading a spreadsheet so i could enter all the maintenance and mods done to my 993 by the previous owner and myself - however, the sting in the tail is that it automatically updates the total cost.

As of the last entry 1/16/2014 the total cost stands at $31,769.91.

OUCH

I have a figure in my head that does not include little parts and bits that you always find need replacing. Aside from that, I have a folder I have never (and probably never will) added up. My wife is very understanding.

Imagine the costs on 9 P-cars, 5 of which see the track......

My wife is too understanding -- helps that I make sure she 'owns' one :-) The latest is this
993!

Yes I am trying to pair down.....

From her perspective -- it's better than a mistress :-)

Okay, I am using whatever result pops up first on a google search of the model and brand. Prices may be better elsewhere. I will include where I bought the individual pieces but I really do not know what I paid for them.

Amplifier JL Audio XD400/4 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-q2zNRPU...o-XD400-4.html I bought this at Boomer McCloud in Nashua NH

Head Unit Kenwood KDC-BT952HD http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WWjAdHB...C-BT952HD.html I bought this at Best Buy and paid more than $139 but I dont know how much more.

Focal Access 130A1 front component speakers http://www.crutchfield.com/S-km0Qr2T...-130A1-SG.html I bought these and had them installed at http://www.eliteaudiofl.com/ The owner is a very nice guy and is a Porsche guy as well.

Focal Access 100CA1 rear coaxial speakers http://www.crutchfield.com/S-EPBTZor...100CA1-SG.html Also purchased and installed at http://www.eliteaudiofl.com/

The front tweeters were fit into the existing tweeter pod. He had to glue them into place but they did fit.

I hope that helps
Jim

Mistress v Porsche - both quite open-ended.

[try both?]

I am sure Best Buy can do you right for <$200 for a head/amp and <150 to update the speakers.
