Hi guys,
I have a '96 C4S that I am trying to turn back to 'stock.' The Aero kit that is on it just insn't my style, so I'm trying to figure out what the rear wing would be worth on the open market and/or the Rennlist community price.
Bottom line - I'm not looking to profit, but rather just see if you guys think I would be able to cover my costs on a stock (mechanical) rear wing installation.
thoughts feelings burning sensations?
thanks!
Scott

From what I can tell from the picture, that is an aftermarket wing that bolts onto the stock rear deck (although I'm not sure). If true, that's good and bad news. Good news is that you don't need a new (different) rear deck that you might have had to paint to match; rather, you unbolt wing, find new or used retractable spoiler and mechanics, and install. The bad news is that it is aftermarket and thus not worth as much on the open maket.
My c4s had a OEM turbo S wing that I was able to sell for about $2500, which sounds like a lot until you start pricing a used deck with S grills, paint, and installation. I came out ahead in pure dollars, but if those dollars were what I was paid for the time I put in just getting the parts and arranging the painting, etc., I was making about minimum wage.

Yes - it is aftermarket and does bolt into the decklid. I already have a replacement (mechanical electronic) spoiler, but it will need some minor paint.
I appreciate the feedback gentlemen... The quote I have from the shop I use near NYC is $850 all-in to remove the current wing, paint the"new" one, and do all the mechanical/installation, etc. I think, because it's not an OEM part, that I may just offer the old wing to the shop in an effort to cut down my costs for this particular job.
thanks again for the help!

Price sound really high. Factory turbo wing goes around $1,200 to $2,000. Factory Aero II wing goes for $1,500-$2,500 range. The one the OP has is an Aero I wing, which goes on a NON-WB car, not a C4S. $200-$400 range I would guessimate.

I still think the used aftermarket wing is worth $600.

This spoiler might be close, but I don't think it has sold for $550 yet.

Hey, that is my tail for sale!!! And it has not sold, yet. $550...I dropped the price to $500 today. My reasoning, new they cost new $719, + $100 freight, + $100 for sanding and paint prep, so $919 before paint. Paint is generally a moot point as the new owner will want to paint the tail to match their car...so $919 less 50% = $460.
But $460 is still probably too high to stir up the market. I am going to re-price mine to sell it....new price forthcoming....$350, how's that sound. I had better change my ad. 62% discount, now that should stir up the pot, + freight of course.

you are referring to the white 993 in this string, it sits in a trailer 99% of the time. Although licensed for the street, it is a pain in the *** to get in and out of with the race seat...and I have no street tires, only Hoosiers.

@samsnead
Is this car usually parked outside of the Elysian on 10th?
No sir - i am in the shipyard and keep her in the Garage at all times when I'm not behind the wheel.
Are you in North Hoboken as well?
