Thanks for posting - how did you like the new Cayman in person?

Dr. No,
I like the new Cayman very much. I'm not a big fan of the previous design, but the new one is really on target. The roof line is evocative of earlier 911s, and the overall size is just right--not as "Super Size Me" as the latest 911s. I don't care much for the two-tone seats, but that seems to be a trend now as evidenced by many cars at the show. The Cayman S with PDK and Sport Chrono package is under five seconds to 60 now, and with the handling inherent to a mid-engine car, the performance will be stellar. It's the pick of the litter, IMHO. (But I'm sticking with my 993).

Thanks for the pics. The new 4S photos make me want a 993 even more.

For some reason to me the boxster lines appear smoother vs Cayman, even though I anticipated the Cayman to be better just cause its a coupe. Curious thoughts from those who have seen in person?

Bobby-- AutoBlog.com agrees with you, picking it as "Editors' Choice: Top 2012 LA Auto Show Debut:"

The Porsche Cayman is so, so, so much more than just a Boxster with a roof. Yeah, it looks fantastic, and it shares its mid-engined architecture with the droptop Box, but for a lot of us, the Cayman is the Porsche to buy. You heard right. Not the 911 – the Cayman. And with a choice of two new engines nestled behind those seats, better road-hugging mechanicals, and quite frankly, damn good looks, that isn't really logic one can argue with (even though people inevitably will).

With a package that's this good, how could it not be Best In Show? It's the car we've been waiting for ever since the 2013 Boxster was revealed, and it's the car we most drooled over at the Los Angeles Convention Center. We absolutely cannot wait to get behind the wheel.

I really like the new Cayman. When it comes in I will test drive one. I was there on Friday morning. The show itself was poor compared to past years. Porsche always seems to bring a classic car. Last year a blue 550 this year a pristine 904.

New Caymans were pretty cool. Sat in the 991 C4S (think thats what model it was). Really nice. All the materials seemed to be quality stuff. Looked to be REAL aluminum and not spray-painted plastic. Comfy seat. Nice design. I'm 6'1 so the larger 991 appeals to me more than the Cayman. Or maybe thats just because I already have a smaller sized P-car that I like more!
