FS: 1997 993 Targa - SOLD
Cross-post from the for sale section:
1997 Porsche 993 Targa. $37,900. Arctic Silver Metallic with Black leather interior. The factory options are Metallic Paint, Sport Package, Motor Sound, Heated Seats, Sound Package Plus and Power Comfort Seats.
Some basic details on the car:
• 66,xxx miles
• VIN – WP0DA2999VS385520
• Car spent almost its entire life with 1 owner in San Diego from July 1998 until June 2011
• I have all maintenance records since July 1998 through current organized in a folder and also summarized on a spreadsheet
• 60,000 mile service completed (as well as the 15/30 & 45k major services)
• PPI done May 2011 and car passed with flying colors. However, a new PPI is welcomed and encouraged
• Porsche made 567 1997 1997 Targa’s and this particular car was one of the last 50 that rolled off the line
• Targa top and all related hardware was replaced/upgraded in 2007 so this car has all the Targa top upgrades and doesn’t suffer from some of the issues that the 1996 and early 1997 cars had
• Leather seats were re-done in 2010 and show almost no wear
• Driver and passenger seat power drive cables were replaced in 2011
Tasteful Mods include:
• Fister Stage II exhaust
• Brake Calipers redone in Porsche Red
• 5mm spacers front and rear
• New JVC head unit including back-up camera, satellite radio & bluetooth
• Rennline gauge trim rings
• Rennline strut tower brace
• Porsche silver shift ****
• 996 3 spoke steering wheel
• Rennline power seat surrounds
• 2002 996 5-spoke 18” lightweight wheels custom powdercoated
• M033 Porsche springs with Bilstein HD’s from FD Motorsports
• Euro front bumper
• Euro rear bumper
• Turbo intake scoops with LED fog lights
• HID headlight conversion
• Gert Carnewal Front Protection Bar
Records indicate the car has never been tracked. I have the original wheels which are in absolutely pristine condition on relatively new Continental rubber. I also have everything to convert the car back to original condition including original bumpers, head unit and radio code, steering wheel, shift **** etc. The only things missing from being able to restore the car to original are the original shocks (which were way past their prime) and that the calipers are now red and would need to be restored to black. Otherwise a little elbow grease over a long weekend restores the car to the factory originality if that is important to the buyer. I made certain any mods could easily be reversed. Only reason I am considering selling is I just moved to a house which doesn’t have as much garage space. It will probably be a couple years before I build an additional garage at the new place so I will be selling a couple toys in the meantime.
I don’t have to sell the car, but will if I can get a fair price and it goes to a good home. I would love for it to end up with another Rennlist member that will take care of it. As part of any sale I would request first right to re-purchase the car at a later date if the buyer ends up selling it. Additional pictures are available on request.

Hi everyone.
This is my first post as a full member on Rennlist. I've learned so much from many of you already in "lurking" mode the past few months.
Mike (mts) sold this absolutely stellar 993 Targa to me after I bugged him with a million emails and phone calls. I cannot thank him enough for his time and patience and always good humor. He is sad to let her go after doing so much amazing work on her, but when he has more garage space again I am absolutely sure he'll be back in a Porsche soon. From our interactions I can say first-hand that he is the epitome of a Porsche enthusiast.
This isn't my first Porsche, but I still consider myself a newbie. I had a 1966 912 in college and the 48 IDA Webers some overzealous person put on it drove me crazy trying to sync them, but that's it (and I'm still kicking myself for selling her!). So I'm coming back into the fold with a beautiful 993.
The car is on its way here via Plycar -- they have been awesome so far and we'll report more on their performance once the journey is complete. We're talking Lexington Kentucky to Bellingham Washington so not a short trip. And over the Christmas holiday!
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here and learning and seeing all your fine cars. Even as a lurker here the past few weeks I can see this is a fantastic and supportive community.
Cheers,
Brian aka BLT
