K28 versus K28R

Personally I like the flat, but I've heard sometimes in the rain on the Rs you can get water trapped and it essentially drives like it is out of balance. No idea first hand, just there was a fair amount of discussion about that at one point.

aah, so the "r"s are flat?
Old Kinesis storefront was ~ 3 miles from where I live.
I found this in the trash one day and carried it part way home on my bicycle before stashing and returning later.
~ 30 pounds and made from 1/4" Al plate.

I have a set of K28Rs I am resizing for my lightweight project (pulled from our 928 race car). I will be refinishing them throughout the winter and will post up some photos when finished. New sizes are 18x9 and 18x10.5.

My understanding it that with Kinesis, the "R" stands for "reverse" lip. The reason being is that all rims have one side that is "stepped" and one side that is "flat" (I've been told that a stepped side was necessary in order to mount the tire). Traditionally the stepped side was outward facing but the reverse look became more common as it allowed the use of a larger (and heavier) center to get a more aggressive big wheel look.

I can add that the Rs DO retain water inside the barells. I had a set on my S2000 and freaked me out the first time I drove distance in the wet. Imagine drivng at a steady cruise of 80 or so and all of a sudden the car starts shaking voilently. iForged, RoJa, and many others had this characteristic as well. One one set of RoJa rims, I ended up drilling out 1/4" holes in betwen the spokes on the flange and problem was solved...(After a rebalance)
