Default Rims and Tire fitment issues

Guys,

I've just bought new rims for my 993 and the sizes are:

Fronts 18 x 8.5 (+44 ET)

Rears 18 x 11 (+38 ET)

Seller told me I could run 285/30/18s rear and there is no way. I took my brand new Pirelli PZeros to get mounted last night and there's no way the tire would even seat on the rim. What tire size should I be pursuing now based on the above?

Also, the fronts are in question too. I didn't try fitting the 225/40R18's but can I go with these or should I upgrade to 235's?

Will I rub based on the above?

My measurements are shown below:

Cam

As a reference point:
On one of my sets, I'm running 285/30/18's on 11" hollow spokes with no fitment issues (Michelin Pilot Sports) and on the other set, I'm running 295/30/18's on 11" Gembella Competitions (Hankook tires on that set).

The 225's for your 8.5 " front rim will be on the stretched side. You'd be fine moving to 235's.

Alot of variables to tire/rim selection and fitment vs. performance vs. appearance - a couple of great links to threads below with discussions centered around similar rim width/tire size discussions. I spent some time sifting through these when I was trying to juggle a similar conundrum.

Many thanks Ash.

The second thread you posted highlighted that the 235 and 295 combination will be the right fitment size.
