I'm looking for a high mileage 4S or S, most likely needing some attention. 120, 150K miles or more isn't a problem. My first color preference would be arctic silver but I am open to many colors. Please PM or email to cmartin911 at mac dot com if you have something you would like to sell.
Yeah, a few of us have them. But there's really no point in dumping, as what is there to replace it with? Spend another $10-15-20K just to have a lower number on the odometer?
And I'm not saying the high milers aren't worth that little, just that you hit a certain floor and the next stop is to just rat it out for track use.
Good luck with the search. Higher mileage wide bodies are out there...but I wouldn't expect to find one for under $30K still.
Look for one owned and driven by someone who cared for it. You certainly would like some maintenance records, but personally I'd put more emphasis on finding a car that has had the suspension done, as well as other "enthusiest" type stuff. A high mileage car, that had a higher than average level of care...is a beautiful thing.
This just reminds me how great the deal on my C4S was when I picked it up from a rennlister 3 years ago.
It had 62k Miles, a rebuilt engine and custom gearbox by one of the best shops out there, PSS9, RS sway bars, LWF, Steve Weiner chip, 3 spoke steering wheel, CDR 220, OEM big ovals ... (all the good stuff!)
The asking price was below 40k and I bought it in 5 minutes after I saw the add.

GL.
Thanks for rubbing it in! But seriously, with how many marques do potential buyers actually seek out a higher- mileage example? Certainly part of that decision is point of entry on price, but I also think much of it is the confidence in the build quality, engineering, and durability of these cars. I love Corvettes too, but if I was going that route for a purchase, I likely would be bypassing the higher mileage examples. Just my .02.
Good luck. I purchased my high mile C4S for a great price 3 years ago from a rennlister. After a bit of general maintenance (plugs, wires, valve cover gaskets) when I first purchased it, the car has been rock solid and is now at 145K.
