Not quite a Vanagon, but my Westy is what got me interested in Air Cooled German Junk (that is an affectionate term) about 20+ years ago. Built the motor a few times in those 20+ years (air cooled after all). I'm callin it the fastest bus in the tri-sate area (KY-IN-OH) until someone calls me out on it...

Sorry for crappy cell phone pic...

YARGH!

sdoolin... that is awessssssssssssome!

why?

I'll be damned if that ain't the clone to my '76 Westybus. D'oh!

Tugs on the heart strings, the loss of that one. Burst into flames, pulling into my high school parking lot at that. Magnesium block 'o fun. Sigh. Crusty fuel line had let go and puked onto exhaust.

Ah well. To be 17 and stooopid (now I'm just older and stoopider)...

The 2.0 was spritely, I'd love to hear about your set up - DCOE's, etc.?

Thanks for the compliments on the old bus. It is a '76, with a '79 engine. All stock except for the dual dellortos and some pretty significant porting and flow work on the heads/intake/exhaust. The head work makes the _biggest_ difference.

Keep in mind when I say the fastest bus in the tri-state area, it is a bus. And a fast bus is pretty much slow all the time.

I get more head-turns, peace signs, and compliments on that old gal than I do in the P-Car. Also can't camp in the P-Car - it doesn't have a sink.

Oh, and I replace all the fuel lines every couple years to avoid said fire issues...

Pretty cool. It seems to me Kevin Jeannette built a hot rod bus with a flat six a few years ago?
