Road trip - how to protect bumper, hood?

I've used low tack painter's tape for the base layer with a couple layers of photographer's gaffer tape or even regular duct tape for temporary protection from sand and gravel.

Rennlisters. Thanks for all the helpful advice – this is my first 993, the paint is all orginal and appears to be in great shape so I want to take care of her. I’m flying into Philly on Friday morning and starting my drive back to Mpls by noon. I ordered one of the temporary protective films by overnight delivery and if it doesn’t arrive on time I’ll cover the front with painter’s tape and add an overlay of packing tape for good measure. And no tailgating, I promise. The car is an over-serviced silver 96 C4 with 50,000 miles. With HardBacks. I’m stoked..I’ll provide pics once I get her home.

Good luck and have fun on the drive home. It's a very memorable drive you won't forget. Isn't packing tape as thin as clear scotch tape? If you want added protection, I would do duct tape over top of the painter's tape. It's thicker and cushier (is that a word?)

P-daddy - good call. As my 96 C4 is Polar silver, I just bought s pool of duct tape to go on top of the blue painter's tape...should blend in...and nobody can accuse me of uglying up the car (is 'uglying' as verb?)..
