Default Can someone post photos of a NB OEM ride height with front spacers?

I cannot find any good photo references for a wheels spacers on a NB car with OEM cups at factory ride height. I can't figure out what size i need on my cab? Thanks.

I'm lamely replyin to my own threads now.

Hope to get some suggestions on tire size and spacers. The attached photo shows the problem, note the angle exaggerates, but you get the idea. Does this fender appear normal shape or does it seem flared?

I am running 205/50 as recommended by Porsche. How much would a 225/45 help? How about a 5mm or 6mm spacer? I don't want to replace wheels studs so that is as much as I would feel comfortable adding. I read Porsche okays 5mm for this wheel set but have read 6mm work too with original studs. Name: small file spacer.jpg

You can use up to 7mm shims with the original studs but do you really think that will make much difference?

OK, not exactly what you're asking since my car is lowered on Bilstein HD coilovers but you get the idea. I have 20 mm spacers on the front (with extended studs) and 7 mm spacers on the rear.

I don't know, that's why I am posting this and requesting photos and beneficial advice from fellow RL's in the know.

Could be the marginal 6mm spacer plus the 225 tires together would have to make some noticeable difference.

Ideally I would like to just get wheels with proper offset but I cannot find a 17" wheel that I like. Cup II's are good looking in my opinion.

I was surprised to find out how limited the selection of 17" wheels are for these cars. I am staying away from 18" now after having read too many negatives regarding ride quality. I do love the look of the (996tt) Turbo Twist II's but by the time you buy the replica rears, source the two fronts and by 4 new 18" tires, plus the recommended steering brace install for my 95', it could be a real let down to learn that after spending all that time and energy the ride quality with the 18" is worse than the 17"s.

If you think ride quality on 18" rims might be bad wait until you try 19"ers.

Ride quality is a very subjective value. Reading others' descriptions of variation in ride quality won't tell you much at all, except at the extremes.

There are a lot of 993s with the set-up you described. Why not get with a couple of those folks and do a back-to-back comparison with your car? Then you'd know for sure. If nothing else, it'd give you an excuse to drive your car somewhere and meet up with other 993 owners.

- Take a ruler
- hold it against your tire
- measure how far you want the tire to move towards your fender lip
- buy spacers accordingly - or -
- buy new wheels with a lower offset using the measurements from step 3

If you space out your stock wheels or get new wheels with lower offset, but don't lower the car, you risk making the car look "mexi-flush."

* No offense intended, just the term being used to describe a wide stance that looks funny.

Lol. I've found adding spacers is sorta of like lowering your car or putting on muscle mass. The little change at first is new and exciting, but soon you'll be craving more. I'll give it a month before you start looking up "how to install extended studs and 15mm spacers."

So I put the 5mm spacers on today and they really do make a difference. I was surprised how much a 1/4 inch can effect it. I put them on all four corners. Best improvement was up front. I am going to keep the ones on the back for a couple of weeks to see how I like them. After looking at it for awhile, I may remove the back and keep the fronts. I could see going to 10mm or 12mm in the front. To me the factory offset of the Cup II's just look wrong up front. Maybe it is my turbo front bumper that is causing that effect. I was even wondering if my front fender was flared or just repaired incorrectly, as the front fenders have both had paint work on them (see photo above). Maybe I have been looking at my car too long!

My car came with original US SUV ride height and 17" wheels. I fitted the M030 kit (dampers and springs) then added 1/4" spacers. I am also running 18" wheels and have not rolled any arches. For normal street driving there are zero issues and ride quality remains excellent. With two 'decent' sized people on board under heavy cornering, the suspension does compress a lot and there is very, very slight rubbing at the rear - not enough for me to bother about. At the rear I have 9.5" wide wheels (ET59) + 265/35 tires + 1/4" spacers. Not sure if this helps but hope so...
