Default The lower dash rattle continues....what bolts am I missing?

I still continue to get the lower dash rattle that goes away if I push up on the lower dash right above the ash tray. I have loosened and tightened that 10mm bolt behind the ash tray several times and it usually stopped the rattle for a few hundred miles. Now it no longer does. Are there other bolt/nuts that I can loosen and retighten to get the lower dash to stop rattling? I haven't taken the ash tray out forever....I am simply loosening and retightening the 10mm you can access thru the pass thru hole. Anyone have any ideas as to what other bolts I could check? Tempted to remove the CCU have a look as well...

Any advice appreciated.

TIA

there should be 2 bolts behind the ash tray. you have to remove the ash tray housing completely to get to both. if that's not it...
your rattle could be the nuts behind the radio and ccu. radio is easiest so pull it and feel along the bottom edge inside. there should be a hole in the area near the glove box ****, in that hole are nuts holding threads that stick out of the lower dash. check if the nuts are tight.
the other nuts are behind and below the ccu.

that looks like the upper dash to me? Can you get to that by removing the clock?

Yes it is the upper dash - you can get to it by pulling out the clock.
An easy check just in case.

Easier (for me) than pulling the clock is removing the center vent.

I removed my CCU yesterday and checked everything I could reach for tightness....also removed the ash tray and checked the two 10mm bolts behind it. Took it on a drive and the rattle was still there, so I fiddled with the CCU a little and it seemed to go away. I think the CCU is actually the cultrip so Im going to pull it and make sure the metal frame it slides into is secure and put some felt tape around where it slides in and rests in the back - hopefully that settles it!
