OT: Any cyclists out there ever do LOTOJA?
Just did the LOTOJA race this weekend. What a crazy race! 206 miles, 3 states, 1 day. It is the longest 1 day race in America. I've wanted to do it for a few years now so a few friends and I decide to finally get it done. It is an epic ride for anyone looking for a challenge. It starts in Logan Utah and ends in Jackson Hole Wyoming. Absolutely beautiful scenery. The only thing better would be to do it in the 993!

wow...that's some distance. What was the course profile like, how much climbing?
Must have been a 12 hour effort anyway.
This time of year, cyclocross season is ramping up fast. It's all high intensity short duration kaliedascope eye riding. Just 45-60 minutes of red zone.
Then drink beer.
Congrats, sounds like a bucket list item.

My last mt bike was a custom ti Davidson hardtail with Marzocchi Bomber fork and XTR so my data points are limited. That said, this is an amazing bike. It feels very natural and I have adapted to it quickly. The bike is surprisingly nimble on switchbacks. My wife is a good bike handler and I was nailing tight corners that she was struggling with on her (tiny) 26er. It's an XL with XTR and I suspect it's around 26 lbs though I haven't weighed it yet.

yikes! Turtle Park...turtle pace?
Gotta be 10-12K of climbing. I'd kick a$$ on the decents, good handling skills, and 20-30lbs heavier than other road weenies. About the only part of any race where my regimine of beer/bbq training really pays off.

Yikes, the Californial Death Ride looks brutal. Lotoja has about 7500 ft of climb over three main passes. It took us 11hrs whcih was faster than we thought it would. The winners came in just under 9 hrs. This was definately a bucket list for me. Don't think I would do it again, but I have been known to say that after a tough race and then sign up again next year. Go figure. It is amazing how the more time passes the more fond your memories become......

Congratulations. LOTOJA is a huge accomplishment. I would like to do it but have not been able to put together a summer of training. All of you finishers have my respect.
My cousin, Steve Allred, is a two time cancer survivor and has now completed nine in a row. And his daughter has ridden each with him.

Fantastic! Great accomplishment.
BTW - I just placed my order for a Willwood bike rack for the 993. Will told me that he has never done a 993 bike rack -- plenty of trailer hitches, etc. But I am the first to do a bike. I find that hard to believe, but that's what he said.

Death Ride is FUN!
'Specially if you can climb well and are one of the first over Monitor Pass. The early descent kicks *** as you can descend Monitor using all lanes of the road (crossing the double yellow).
All the other descents have to be ridden very mellow since they feature a steady stream of people climbing what you just went down.
Here is the real "leg breaker".
