Car not starting - battery, alternator or something else?
My car wouldn't start today after about a week of not driving. It made a rapid clicking type noise when the cranked. I was able to jump start it using jumper cables. I subsequently went for a 45 min drive during which it drove just fine.
However, when I returned from my drive and parked it my garage, it made the same rapid clicking noise when I tried to re-start. I didn't jump it this time.
Could this be just a battery that needs to be replaced or could it by something to do with the alternator? The battery did look a little old, but I figured that after 45 mins of driving it should be charged enough to start the car.
