So today was the second time my key would not turn off. I literally cannot turn the car off when it does this. Last time I went home and read forum about driving car back and forth. This time I did that numerous times with no luck. I finally sprayed a little wd40 in ignition and into shifter mechanism. Finally it came out. Stressful because it is very hot today and car was getting warm. I was trying to figure out how to kill the engine. Luckily it didn't come to that, would like to know how to do that anyway.
I noticed that both times this happened I was using the same spate key? Not my regular key. Could that alone be the issue? Bowden cable? I read about removing this safety feature but not sure. Has anybody done this? Really dont want to go through this again? Any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.
On another note, my love for newly acquired cab and confidence level was high after successfully replacing speedo lens earlier today. Learned how to do that on this forum, soup can is the trick. This is a great forum!
Sounds like a worn out ignition switch to me. You might also consider pulling the fascia off around the shifter console and clean out all the disintegrating foam that is in there. I know there must be little contacts in there that indicate gear position to the ecu.
