Default OT: Recommend BMW indie in SF Bay Area

Hi Rennlist brethen,

Any recommendations for good BMW repair shops in Bay Area? Friend has a 04 330CI with a serious vibration issue. Her mechanic quoted $5k to repair, she needs another quote, I say. Thanks in advance!

Hi Nelson,
I highly recommend Trackstar Racing in Mountain View.
It is a one man BMW repair shop. Steve is a straight shooter and a great wrench. One of the few places I will let work on my cars.

If the East Bay is an option, I highly recommend European Werkstatt in Walnut Creek. Co-owned by 2 guys who are true BMW enthusiasts and very honest people.

Bavarian Motorsport in Milpitas--Ramon LeFrancois and Nicole Colicchio (yes, Tony of TC Design's wife)
Edge in Dublin--Tony and Sarah Zwain

Know both many, many years on and off track.

What is the vibration issue? And what does the $5k repair estimate consist of? Curious.

I'll second Ramon as well if you are down Milpitas way.

Awesome thanks guys for all the recommendations!

From what the first shop diagnosed, they say it's a bad cylinder. The engine is running rough and causing a vibration issue that can be felt throughout the entire car. The shop recommended replacing the cylinder or the entire engine. They've already checked the engine mounts and changed out the spark plugs.

If she's in San Francisco, have her go to Pacific Motors on 9th Ave in SOMA. There are plenty of BMW shops in the Bay Area and it is a large place, be more specific on where she lives or works...
