Question Manual Convertible Question

My '95 C2 cab has a top in manual operation. The problem is that I need a someone in the passenger seat to slightly pull the right side down to close the top since I have one had on the left side of the top and the other the switch.

Does anyone know of a way to close the top without an extra hand? Maybe a strap or rod that will allow me to hold down both sides of the top with one hand? The other night I used a book on top of the cover and it worked but seemed silly.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

When you put your top up, you don't have to pull on a side. The bolts align to the track and you hit the switch which will bring down the bolts and tighten both sides at the same time.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but when I pull the top out the bolts rest about 1" above the track. If I hold the top down the bolts touch the track pockets and then I can press the switch to lock them in place. If I let go of the top it pops back up to the 1" gap

I wonder if your cables are fully released. Does that make sense?

That makes complete sense. Now for the follow up newbie question- how do I go about confirming the cable position or adjusting?

TOM993 - My 95's top is still auto and, knock on wood, still seems to work perfectly. So I can't help much. Until someone with better skills/knowledge (than myself) can answer your question, how about a couple of pics of your 993? Avatar looks awesome.

I have to pull down gently on drivers side before the motor will run and close the top. There are some microswitches that probably need adjustment. I would do a search as I have seen some threads explaining how to adjust them.

Thanks Vince. I am wondering if it relates to the bolt adjustment shown here? http://p-car.com/diy/cabtop/
Not sure as that tutorial shows both cables terminating into one motor which would imply a 1996-1998 993 as everything I have read about the '95 model indicates two motors.

Sounds like most cab owners have their tops in manual mode and the top bolts rest directly on the track for an easy close. I would appreciate any information or tutorials on how to get my top in that condition. Cheers.

Default strosek

Hi Tom, a 993 cab strosek is at auction Mecum Kissimi, was it yours? If so, I would like to take with you.
docron7@live.com thanks.
