Thx for the info
the reason i ask is that my C4S all wheel drive is awesome for all weather daily commuting but it would be even better if it had tiptronic for heavy traffic and drinking coffee, cell phone etc...

Tiptronic equipped cars had the ABD option 224.Four channel ABS /Advanced Brake Differential. The ABD acts as traction control on Tiptronic 2wd cars.It was a $900.00+ option. There are not to many Tips that have option 224. My wife's Tip Cab has ABD and I have driven the car in the snow with proper tires. The system works well for 1990's technology.

Proceed straight to the (GASP) 996. I almost, almost, was oh-so close to buying a beater '02 C4 cab a couple of years ago right when I pressed the 4S into that 10K of snow duty during the '10-'11 season. But I just couldn't...........

I'd recommend proceeding straight past the 996 (and 997.1) and move to a 997.2. My Dad just bought an 09 C4S with PDK. I typically hate non-manual cars, but the PDK is pretty damn amazing.

Big difference between that, and the ~$24K I was talking for the car in question. (And yes, it needed some cosmetic work, but for what I was going to use it for I didn't care.)

True. Believe me though, you wouldn't be happy with it.
The PDK feels like a manual because it is (albeit automated). No squishy torque converter feel. Amazingly easy to drive with perfectly rev matched downshifts and crisp upshifts.
Still rather have a manual though........
