Was at the auction today and watched it go across the block. The car had some panel
fitment issues that would have concerned me. Otherwise a pretty cool car.
When you add the buyer's premium, I am honestly pretty surprised someone was willing to go to 100k +/-. Maybe the car is now sorted? I see a lot of shop time in its future.
Agree that stock is preferrable to me but there is a segment of buyers that pay big premiums for heavily modded cars. That car presents really well. Not sure $90K well but it is a looker.
Wow, I recall reading about that car here and the time and effort the previous owner put into it to make it what it is today - took well over a year I think. Really was done with no expense spared, so sad to see it on the auction block. I wonder why the previous owner parted with it so soon after creating it.

I believe this car has been sold a few times since the original creater built it. At least I have seen it for sale several times before.

Time, effort, and expense sometimes leaves you ending up with less than the sum of the parts. One exception can be professionally built competition cars, built to a set of rules. Even then, most are underdeveloped with reliability issues.
I'm another who would gladly stay closer to stock for a street car. Had my hands in too many wannabe fast 930s.
Anyone see the silver '89 Speedster that went across yesterday? 105k for that one...
i did. looked pretty nice to me. they quoted some statistics on how few of these were sent to the US...anyway, it looked cool but i kinda like the regular non-speedster look.
