I recommend two places:
1) Pro Imports
390 Haddon Ave
Collingswood, NJ 08108
856-869-9400
Tim Morrow is the owner's name - they do very good work. It's an independent shop. He works on lots of 911s (and a lot of Jaguars). He does my regular service.
2) Holbert Motor Cars
1607 Easton Rd
Warrington, PA 18976
215-343-2890
This is a Porsche dealer with a racing pedigree. They helped me rebuilt my targa top when no one else would touch it.

Holbert is now Porsche of Bucks County. Main phone is 215-343-1600.
+1 on Bill Boys at Possum Hollow.
For 7+ years, work on my car has been done by a Porsche specialist shop. Contact Pete or Paul (owners) at
Performance Automotive
3239 Phoenixville Pike
Malvern, PA 19355
(610) 695-9545

If its a street car you can use Porsche of The Main Line in Newtown Square, they are 12 miles from downtown straight through the city.
Track car or any air cooled you can contact Dave at Brother to Brother in Medford, NJ, Dave specializes in classics and was a former cup car crew chief.
Track or race car use Peter Dawe from Dawes Motorsports in East Stroudsberg, PA. He is currently rebuilding the gearbox in my 964.
Both will come to you for a price. Pm me if you would like contact info for any of these.

2097 N. 63rd St,
Phila, PA 215-473-6400
closer than all the others mentioned, also never do a PPI on an air cooled Porsche at a Dealer.

Guys,
Be realistic with shop locations. They are all good shops, but only a couple are near center Phila. If you live in Phila area and commute around here then you would know most of the places your suggesting are not within a 30mins of center city. Dawe is two hours away! Porsche of the mainline has a PCA club member running the service shop (great guy), but even though Rt3 goes directly into the city it takes almost 45minutes (stop and go) when your lucky to get there.

Or you could just take it to Bobt993's garage. He has had more stuff apart in the last 2 years than most of us will in a lifetime. It usually goes back together correctly too

Bobt, I completely agree about unrealistic travel and my post mentioned both Dawe and Brother to Brother would come to you. That may not be your preference but it was an option if you can't take the car to a shop. Some sellers can be cagey about taking their cars to a shop so having someone come to you is sometimes required.
I don't know any of the other shops and i am sure people are sharing shops they are comfortable with and probably do good work. The three shops I mentioned have great reputations in the Porsche community and are the shops most often mentioned by the PCA club racers and collectors.
I used a shop that two locals once swore by even though the shop had very little recognition among the PCA crowd and racers and that mistake cost me about $4k in repairs after the purchase when one of the shops I mentioned found a major issue within an hour of having the car. If I'm going to drop $20k, $30k or more on a 15 plus year old car I am choosing the best mechanic/shop I can find but that's just me.
Good luck with your potential purchase and let us know how you make out.

Hi:
I've got a 911 Carrera S that is still under warranty. The dealer I used for service (Vision Porsche Reading PA area) no longer services Porsche under warranty. Can anyone recommend a Porsche authorized dealer/service that can do the warranty work. I've heard negative comments about Knopf in Allentown and Autohaus in Lancaster. (I haven't been to either)
Any recommendations would be appreciated. I live near Reading / Kutztown PA.
Thanks!
