(Update: new pics on p. 2) Perforated leather RS door panels: "square" or "diamond"?
NEW PICS ON PAGE 2 - I have completed a few panels with the square layout.
I am working on covering my RS panels I scored from Chris Walrod (THANKS Chris!) in perforated black leather--perforated in a square pattern, as opposed to round perforations. This material will continue to the rear interior quarter panel flat portion below the sill, as well as the lower half of the rear deck, all in the same orientation. I have built a half cage a la GT3RS ("X" design), so I thought the diamond look might mimic this shape. After revisiting, I'm thinking square.
Thoughts before I draw out my patterns? Sorry for the shaky pattern images--too much coffee this AM. The hide has been in storage, so it will take a bit to stretch out and relieve some of the wrinkles.
Also, a couple shots of the lower dash I recently finished covering for the project.

Thanks guys. I should clarify that I did not actually sew the lower dash cover; I have slowly been acquiring top-notch parts for my 993 over the past few years as money allows, all in anticipation of a major rebuild/outlaw build. I found that I had modded the car into something with no identity, so I decided to rest on my laurels and acquire nice stuff over a long period for a rebuild.
While I was dismantling 928s, I managed to trade with Rob Budd at classic9leathershop.com core 928 interior parts for some various interior supplies--dash covers, console cover, door sills, black carpet, and other misc. stuff.
As far as installing them, it is still quite challenging work, but I have perfected my "hobby mechanic" craft over the past few years from building project, after project, after project. I'm addicted to projects!
Any thoughts on diamond vs. square on the leather perforations?

I also like the square perf.
That lower dash looks really nice... I've been going back & forth on taking my 951 to Rob for a leather dip, though I've seen a few pictures posted by some of his customers that were less than impressive (wavy stitching etc). Nice to see they get it right too...

Cactus... high compliments my friend, cheers! Come down to the Sparkle City sometime and there's a small-town brewery downtown called RJ Rockers. Holler if you are in the area--preferably after I finish this car as my truck is full of dog fur and tools.
Looks like square is winning, I'll see what the wife thinks when she gets home, and hopefully I will have some photos in the next couple of days with the results.
I have plenty of this perforated stuff, that's for sure:

Diamond for me.
There is no square pattern in anything 993
Diamond is angled at 45*
Carrbon is angled at 45* and makes a diamond pattern
Perforated seat leather is at 45* degrees

I think I totally missed the thread .
The pictures in the first post are not visible on a pc with a firewall, like in my office.
Now, after seeing there are pictures, on the ipad at home, I understand you are talking about the punch itself, I was thinking leather grid direction
Great craftsmanship on the leather. wow
I have 3 huge hides of nappa black porsche mothballed in my storage (15 sq/m) I have to find someone to redo my interior, or a sewing machine
