Default Anyone have this problem?

My 96 993 recently began acting odd when starting. When I proceed to start my car it will sometimes start and be at a higher RPM (say 1500) than normally. It then slowly corrects down to the normal idle RPM I am used to. I initially though this is not that big a deal, but then I noticed that with this comes smoke on start up. I would say this happens about 50% of the time when starting the car. Any one have any similar? Must be some plugged line or failed gadget.

It may be prudent to remove & clean your idle speed control valve (ISV).

Yup, sounds like an ISV problem.
