Quick update:
Now that summer has arrived in San Diego County, I had the car out late yesterday afternoon with the A/C on. When the compressor is engaged, there is a slight "whirring" noise from the back. No vibration or sound that I can hear with the lid up, but it's there when driving. Not enough to be a problem.
While out yesterday, I had the opportunity to run up through the gears a few times, and the shifts at high revs are so much crisper. A big improvement, on something that didn't bother me prior. The difference is noticable.
