993 Transmission Weirdness

You asked for a report back about my shift linkage replacement. 
I took it to my mechanic and they said it was an easy job... no more than 2 hours labor. He asked, "What about the other cables and linkage?" Hmmm.... So, I told him to replace all of them so I don't have to worry about them breaking again. He got the parts from Porsche of Orlando. My heart sank. That is the most expensive place he could have ordered them from! But, ok... let's carry on.
$467 for the parts.
$200 labor ... $667.00! There's a gold bar that you have to replace....
Anyway, it's all working great... but there must be an adjustment somewhere because when I put the car in reverse...the shift handle still hits the center console. I haven't told them yet..... I really hate to take it back if the bottom cover has to come off again. Oh well, I paid for it, so I want it the way it's supposed to be. It feels like a different car!
