Default Center Air Vent Cosmetic Question

This is a silly OCD question, so please feel free to ignore it.....

I've owned my C2 for eleven years and never noticed a little metal tab that is inside the right hand center air vent. I've attached a crummy Iphone photo - but it is visable on the top of the vent on the inside.

It looks some kind of locking or removal tab that should lay flat. There is a similar tab on the left side but it looks like it lays flat. Maybe the vent was removed at one time and reinstalled and this tab should be bent down.

Would someone mind taking a look at their car when able to see if this is the same? Thanks guys.

Mine is the same on a 1996 C4S. FYIW I looked at the right vent and the tabs are totally flat.

Default Locating clips

Both mine are down as on your right side.

I had my vent out to put a new foam gasket on, and I believe it just pulls straight out.

I don't recall messing with the metal clips.

X50,

So both your right and left sides stick down as in my photo?

FWIW: When I first removed a center vent I broke the tabs that secure it. However, it pretty much is a pressure fit and I have had no problems with the one that has no tabs. Doesn't rattle and no diff from the second one (done properly) with the tabs intact.

I wish the aftermarket would come up with a center vent with more directional adjustability.

X50, thanks for the reply. Guess I won't plan surgery on the center air vent.

Ed, I am buying wine pretty regularly from Wiens Family Winery in Temecula. Went there on our biking trip this spring. Very nice wines - do you know this winery?

Temecula is about 30 miles up the road from us, and we've been there a few times, but typically at Leonesse. I've seen Wiens, however. One of these days, I need to branch out. For local wines, we've got our Orfila about 15 minutes away from the house.
