I bought my 993 with chrome cup wheels (which i dont care for much) and wanted to know what options I have to re-do these wheels without the chrome.

Most any wheel refinisher will powdercoat these, but will not guarantee them since they won't remove the chrome. Only a handful or less of places in US have the ability to remove and dispose of the chrome.

I had some chrome turbo twists that came with my car. I found a small powder coater in central Oregon who had someone else strip the chrome (acid washed I think) then he could finish them any way I wanted. Might be easier to sell them and get something else. But it can be done!

Question is are they actually chrome or polished alloy? My car came with some OEM Porsche "polished" solids and it's just as easy to prepare them for paint as any other (maybe easier). After all these years, if they were actually chrome I bet you'd see some signs of flaking. Take a few close-ups including the part numbers and maybe we can help you figure it out.
