Default anyone run MOTONS ?

Just wondering if anyone runs the MOTON 993 package and how they find it and how it compares with anything else ? What spring rates do you use with it ?

I am in the unfortunate position of having to fiddle with my PSS10 yet again (not out of choice) and I am thinking of just moving them on and going to Moton or MCS.

You have a Private Message with a member's name who uses them.

I have the Moton clubsports and love them. Running 700/900 springs. No leaks so far after six years. Although the car rides very well on the street compared to Bilsteins, these are not well-suited for constant road use, especially if you have suspension bearings.

Tough decision of Moton versus MCS. Steve Weiner, who used to sell Moton, as well as other vendors, espouse MCS. Not sure how well proven MCS is, but I do believe it is still being run (owned?) by Lex Carson who used to run Moton USA. When my Motons need servicing, I'm not sure what I'll do, but I imagine someone out there can work on them, for Moton sold many, many dampers to pro teams and club guys.

Running Clubsports same as Mark. Spring a bit more aggressive (1300 lbs), but my setup is very specific to a driving style/ technique I was taught. The rates Mark has are a bit more flexible for track conditions. Shocks work great. I have to do little to them over the years and they have kept pressure every time we check them.

Bob, how do those spring rates work at Summit? I've always contemplated going to stiffer springs for WG and other smooth tracks but had concerns about Summit's moonscape.

+1 - not sure what else to say, Mark nailed it. I have the same spring rates and the same experience. I would seriously look at MCS, though, if I was buying today.

..
The issue w/ Bilsteins, at least the Cup versions is that the valving is all wrong, revalve w/ digressive valves specifically designed for the springs/car weight/use and it's a whole nother world, you don't even need to use tenders to get a great track ride that is also ok on the street, this eliminates the dual set points of most track supensions

Mark,

They actually work really well at Summit especially with the improved track conditions over the last 3 years. Biggest challenge is still T1-T2, but if you stuff it in there the hoping is pretty minor.

Same as many comments above. Motons with 700/900 springs. Would go stiffer for most tracks but home is Mosport which is pretty similar to downtown NYC.

I'm running the Moton Motorsport triple adjustable dampers on my car and absolutely love them. I've had a couple issues with the left rear leaking and have had it serviced once by Lex at Moton and the second time with Moton/AST in Texas.

Like many here I'm running 700/900lb springs.

700/900.
Just a world of difference between bilsteins and Motons (presume the mcs's too.)

Thanks guys ...

So you guessed the next question. Is anyone using MCS ?

It looks like the install would be faily comprehensive with some new holes made in the arches to feed the reservoir lines through, some custom mounts made for brake lines, ABS wires etc..

I'm on MCS in my race car - fantastic dampers, with the service one would expect from the guys at the "old" Moton.

Yes, they all are the new MCS.

Give Weiner a call.
