I was the one that made the "done by lunch" comment and I stand by that comment. No shop wants you to know that they can do such a job so quickly. Most people are unaware of what a real professional can achieve because you generally don't watch them while they do their job. If you've done that job fifty times you know all the moves you need to make to do it, it's not their fault that they can do a job that calls for 10hrs in four, you're paying for their experience and knowledge and facility. Some shops will take that into consideration and use it as a competitive advantage and some will not, which may explain the large disparities in their quotes.

Yes, when my clutch and flywheel were replaced last spring, my indy was "done by lunch" too......IIRC on about day #3. But, I also had some other 'while you're in there stuff done' too. My bill was about $4,700 total. Don't remember how much was just the clutch
