Default Any 95 993s out there use the V1 Savvy?

My 95 has what looks to be an OBD II plug. i was wondering if anyone with a 95 has tried the Valentine One Savvy attachment that measures speed to lower volume automatically and gets power through the OBD II plug.

No, more rectangular. Like an OBD-II. 16 pins, 2 rows of 8. Not all of the pins seem to have electrical contacts.

I'd be surprised if it works with OBDI. IIRC, I couldn't tap into my OBDI port to measure speed for my Racepak data acquisition and had to splice into another wire. Shoot a PM to former 993 owner tbernard and I'm sure he'll know. He set up my Racepak and is truly an electronics wizard.

If it's not round then you have OBDII and can use the V1 connection without any modifications.Good luck with it.

IIRC ALL 95's have the OBD-I system. Sometime during 1995 they changed the connector from the round (older) to the newer rectangular OBII but the system inside is still OBD-I.

All '95's have OBDI. The late model build '95's often have the OBDII port, immobilizer and window-mounted third brake light.

Thanks. I'll try it out and report back when I get it.

I looked into the V1 Savvy but decided against it because it was going to stick out too far.
You can get the dimensions and check it out but I think it will interfere with your leg.

If it is anything like a standard OBDII connector, then absolutely, I have driven with my actron plugged in to set the drive cycle, and while doable, it is kind of annoying. Why didn't they put the port somewhere else or make an angle connector?

Incorrect, if it has a rectangular 16 pin port it is OBD2.

Ahh, not correct ... Late model 95's have OBD 1 software with OBD 2 ports

In any case, I'll tell folks whether or not it works this weekend; UPS says they'll deliver it Friday.

Once again, people who know everything are wrong. As some above (most of them long-time members) have said; Late build 1995 993s have an OBD2 connector. However the car is still running on an OBD1 system. AFAIK, there are no OBD2 '95 993s. Mine was one of the last built, and it is OBD1 with the OBD2 connector.

Quick Reply: Any 95 993s out there use the V1 Savvy?
