Yup it's a unique and very special color . I think this color was more frequently used on 964s.

I don't agree ... at least I didn't until this morning. As far as I knew, Violet Blue 38H is listed as a non-metallic enamel and this car is definitely metallic. However, after digging a little deeper, I found a factory list of upcharge Exclusive colors that included such rarities as Orange Pearl L12S (remember the TrueSpeed Turbo?), Palladio Metallic L555 AND Lavender Blue Metallic 38H/W a.k.a. Violet Blue.

However, I want proof, so I'm laying down the gauntlet worldwide. Anybody that has the opportunity to verify the color name and code on an example in this color ... please do and post it up please!

Nice! Another source of info :-) I do have Streather's 'The 993 Companion' book which also lists paint codes ... but his book is the one I'm talking about when I say that Violet Blue is listed as a non-metallic. However, my factory list .. and now I can't even remember where I sourced it .. but it is part of the Porsche PET system .. lists Lavender Blue Metallic/Violet Blue code L38 as the same color .. inferring it's metallic .. so there you go

Andymar .. do you ever see 993's in this color in Italy/Europe on the street or at shows? If so, can you take a peek at the inner fender paint code sticker for us sometime and post what you find here?

Different is almost always better. I looked long and hard for my Yellow 993. I was perfectly content till I saw Riviera Blue in person..Awesome. Now I am always on the prowl for one.

Now this purple metallic with the silver under tone reminds me of a VW Corrado I owned years ago. Things that make you go hmmmmm. Love this color really shows off the swooping lines of the 993.

Actually, I think it's Violet Blue Metallic (Veilchenblau metallic) - 37E.
