Default Tip Steering wire identification help please!

Hi There

Myself and a fellow Rennlister both bought the same steering wheels for our Tiptronic 993's a while back. He had his fitted without problems as per the link below, but my airbag light is on and I have one red/orange? and brown striped wire left over that comes out from the column all by itself and is not part of the other gubbins. It is not connected to anything (at the moment) and is not mentioned in the write up. It is different from the red and brown one that does go to the shift button. Apart from the light the buttons on the wheel and everything seem fine.

Does anyone know what this wire is and where it should go? The Durametric says I have a bad earth, but it does not look like an earth wire to me (or my brother who is actually trying to fix it).

Any help appreciated!

Berni

Hi Bernie. I reached out to Karl (PorscheDoc) to see if he remembers what the brown wire was for. I have no doubt he will chime in.

Hello Tim! I am still loving the steering wheel. Not the airbag light though.

Geolab, thank you very much for that. I just could not find a wiring diagram anywhere on the net. Having said that it is not easy to read and I cannot see that wire! I am useless with electrics. My brother is better thankfully.

All the best

Hi

Good suggestion but no, the horn works fine. I will take a pic as soon as I get the chance......
