AC not cold
 

gents,

my AC is not blowing cold air...is it difficult to re-charge?
does anybody have any recommendations for a p-car shop in La Habra/Fullerton or near please?

Where is it leaking...don't be surprised if you need to replace the evaporator...or expansion valve...

Make sure that the shop draws a vacuum on the system and that it holds that vacuum. If it doesn't, then there's a leak somewhere. Just to add refrigerant is a "band aid fix."

I needed a charge over two years ago. Turned out it was the filler valve leaking( very small). $20 part.

paid $140 for a vacuum test and re-charge...was advised to lookout for leakage from front left fender area...feel like I over paid but getting cold air is a relief in this summer heat...

that's not bad. i paid a $45 for leak test and recharge was another $170. Luckily, the $45 counted towards the recharge. the shop should use a sniffer to detect if there is a leak. any leak should be repaired before your freon goes out.

"Filler Valve" .... is the Service Valves, located on the compressor manifold or immediately adjacent to it on the refrigerant lines attached to the compressor.... depending upon which model you have.

Calling it a "Filler Valve" may lead a naive reader or DIY into thinking that is all its there for or if you have a problem with the AC you simply 'fill it up'.... LOL.. .NO, NO, NO.

The Service Valves are used to Add and Remove Refrigerant, Test the Pressures and Pull a Vacuum.

You just don't "Fill it up'... no, no, no.
