FWIW,......

When my clients ask about wanting more power, they are simply telling me they want improved acceleration,... The numbers really mean very little; its all about 0-60 & 0-100mph and for that, you cannot do better than re-gearing the 993.

The stock, OEM gear ratios are the single biggest performance liability these cars have (unlike the 993 TT which strangely enough, has very good gearing). Install a gear stack something like the G50/32, the RS Clubsport, and you now have a totally different car.

Add the RS LWF kit, some good software, for a MUCH better driving experience.

Night & Day, really.

Its not cheap to do, but far far less $$$$ than the 3.8 conversion with far better results.

One can even move your current 5th gear into 6th's position to save $1K and still give decent cruise speeds.

Call me for more details.

I did attend a DE event a few weeks ago. I had a great time. Steve pretty well summed up my feelings. I have noticed that 6th is really unnecessary. It helps the fuel economy but 5th is plenty for top speed. Hell, 4th can get me a ticket.

Seems re-gear may be on the list next Christmas.

^You do not like my numbers? They are the real deal. You can get quotes for a regearing anywhere between 6K to 12K. The high side were talking apples to apples not a three gear compromise.
Steve, a G50-32 is for the RS Clubsport and a G50-31 is for the Basic RS. There is also a G50-33 Basic version for Switzerland. There are only three versions listed in Porsche's Service Information Technik 96' 911 Carrera RS ( booklet part number WKD 499 620).

There are too many variables to nail down a number such as year of car (95's have a removable 2nd gear), LSD, steel syncros, uprated shift forks, etc.

Call me anytime for details.

Yessir,..you are absolutely correct. I simply used that to show one of several good options. Further, Guard makes 40+ gear ratios that allow one to precisely tailor the gear stack to one's requirements.

Another data point. I've got 2 993s. A mostly stock 97 and a 95 with varioram, light weight flywheel and a G50/31. The 97 feels dead in comparison to the 95. Of course the 95 is not GT3 fast - and it will never be - but the difference in the cars is significant. Think of it as an improvement of a quarter of the way between a stock 993 and a GT3.

Sounds like the thing to do..... I just love everything about the 993 but having the latest really hurts the 993 driving experience..... Between the 993 and gt3, I prefer the 993 only because of everything but the hardcore drive.....
