Modifying your C4 with $20k won't get you far. (not even close to a Turbo level of performance). You are much better investing that money towards a factory turbo.

And at the end of the day, if you sell the modified C4 and you will get pennies on the dollar for that $20k you threw at it, but sell a turbo and you will get it all back.

There is no easy/cheap hp for these cars. Period.

And if you can afford a supercharger, then you can afford to just buy a 993TT. There are MANY additional costs over the $7k parts cost that will get you into TT territory. BTDT. Seriously.

Regear and lose the AWD. Every time I drive my car on back roads i think it would be great to have 50 extra HP but not in the form of boost. Either way the car is still much better than me so......

BTDT? Buy The Damn Turbo?

Maybe in a few years that is what I will do. So far the work I have done has been in small enough numbers it 'flies under the radar'.

I dropped about 200 pounds from the car, RS gearing and flywheel, and installed a '97 ECU programmed by Steve Weiner. It's way more fun than stock. It's not a monster, but it's really fast.

I did the RS flywheel but I only had a beat and worn dual mass to compare it to. The ecu for a 96 requires a swap for a 97/98 ecu in addition to the reprogram, so I believe it ends up at like $4k to do. The re-gear seems a 'reasonable' route since I have no intention of using the top end of its stock capabilities.

Weight loss to begin this afternoon after I fix our leaky toilet. Ill bring the bath scale down to the garage and weigh the parts I remove to see how much I can get rid of easily.

Eric, I love the 993. It is a blast to drive and I cannot find enough reasons to drive it. For the first time since I got my license I actually enjoy driving again. I would just like a bit of extra go in the acceleration. I saw Juhas post and it got me thinking about a supercharger and how much fun that would be.

You really can't argue with this. I would be the first to admit that I see cars for sale here ALL the time with mod's that were expensive to do but actually decrease the end sales price of the car .. and removing rear seats would definitely be one of those especially if you remove the attachment points by cutting them away to get a smooth RS carpet install .. not an easy reversal. So, if mod's cause a $5000 value hit at sale .. and you spend $3K doing the mod's in the first place .. you're 25% of the way down the road towards a Turbo .. 50% if you can find a mid-mileage car with great maintenance ..

I agree about the resale. If something can be returned to stock, its not too big a deal. I have avoided cutting or modifying anything that cant be ondone. A supercharger would kind of be the end of the line for that route.

Minimum five-figures. Unless you're doing it yourself. Then, about half that if you luck into some gear sets.

+993 I've dropped weight, converted to 2WD, and regeared. My car is a different animal than when I first got it, of course I loved driving the car when it was stock too. Darn that slippery slope, it'll get you every time.

I built an RS clone. Line item real world prices:
Tranny regearing to G50,30-32 standards + labor = $11,000.00 (factory G50-32, keep your org.tranny= $14,300.00 delivered)
Andial MWF +labor= $3000.00
97' ECU new =$1750.00(more now)
SW GIAC programming ($1050.00)
RS Appbizz door cards/leather + install = $700.00
Recaro Pole Postion/leather/sliders = $4200.00
The total amount for just the items you asked about is about $21,700.00 on the low side doing no labor yourself.
