Default Locking question

I'm leaving for a week and the 993 will be in the garage. I'm wondering about locking it. On my 2006 Boxster, the system defaulted to unlocking via the key only after three days to save the battery. I'm wondering if the 993 has a similar system. If I lock it with the fob, will I be able to unlock it the same way after a week, or will I need to open it with the key? How does it affect the battery?

Others here may be more knowledgable but don't think there is a key only default after 3 or more days on the 993. I frequently leave my 96 locked for a week or three and unlock with the fob no different than if had been an hour. Hope this helps.

I didn't know there was any other way to unlock the 993, other than the key....

It will be fine, you can lock it and it will stay locked! You can unlock it with the fob when you get back! Don't use the key to unlock it unless you are willing to go deaf because the alarms are loud as @$%! I almost wet my pants when I unlocked it with the key in the door! I leave mine months on end without opening it and i unlock it with the fob and it unlocks fine!

1-3 weeks, depending on ambient temps, are no a problem on my car. Longer than that and I need a battery tender. YRMV...
