Default OT: 1976 911 with Twin Turbo 997 engine

The Bisimoto 1976 wide body twin turbo 911, with a water-cooled engine and gearbox from a 997, is up and running, with spectacular results! With your components on board, at only 11psi of boost, it made 601whp and 430 ft/lbs of torque:

Given this really isn't plug-and-play, and 30 years ago this was endurance-spec 935 output..........kinda scratch my head on projects like these.

Very interesting exercise; I don't think I would have positioned the air cleaners in that location due to heat, dirt, and exhaust ingestion issues.

I always thought this car was air cooled, did not realize it was a 997 engine.

Bisi started as a Honda tuner/racer. So he has some learnin' to do.

Talking

Thanks for the kind words, and support, all. This has been a wonderful project, and I have 3 more on the way.

I am also excited to have extracted 648whp at only 11.4 psi, with full drive by wire control, and on 100 octane fuel. It is amazing that this was achieved with less than 1 bar of boost pressure: a true testament to the quality parts I chose for this build, and the efficiency of the newer 911 engines.

Absolutely, Mark, and thanks. This blog has tons of them:

The rear vid may be deceiving, as the position of the filters and the filter design allows for ingestion on air from the stream of denser air from the bottom of the engine and carriage while the vehicle is in motion. In steady state on the dynamometer, I placed 7 hydrocarbon sensors, in close proximity to the filters, to determine any exhaust contamination that may occur in the induction...and with spectacular results. I am very scientific with my numerous projects. Exhaust hydrocarbon contamination of the intake was an initial concern for me, that never reared its ugly head.
The temperature quality air ingested in this region is far superior to the ubiquitous engine bay air.
In regard to the debris, I have been performing field testing to determine the severity of the collection of matter...and how it compares to my data on commercially available cold air intake systems. Thanks.

It is as she threatens me with wheelies if I use full boost at lower gears. I use the AEM EMS' boost-per-speed to address that: lower 5psi of boost at speeds below 40mph, and after that...full 11psi! The most fun project I have ever built. I am very pleased with the balance and smooth nature of the opposing flat 6 engines.

Greetings, Vince, sir. I have much to learn indeed: I always strive to expand my horizons...and you know how "****" I am with my projects. This was such a gratifying build...and you will be very pleased with the other air cooled powerplants I have in the works for later this year, with some amazing new technology, and components. I am extremely excited! See you soon.
