Tire advice needed - pefer quiet & smooth
#16
Had Michelin PS before my Hankook ventus V12 evo 110's (the tire with the longest name possible). The Michelin Pilot sport were quieter than the Hankook. I started doing AX events and didn't want to pay for MPS as fast as I was going thru tires, so on to the cheaper Hankooks. Haven't had Sumi's to compare tire noise.

I replaced Bridgestone RE760s (17") with a set of Kumho Ecsta LE Sport (18") and couldn't be more pleased. Very quiet and comfortable for street driving (I dont do track or DE - yet) and still precise in fast cornering. Literally a night and day difference...

I just got the Michelin Pilot Super Sports installed a couple hours ago. In the brief 8-10 mile drive, they are a world of difference compared to what I was running. Now granted, moving from old, mismatched PZeros (F) and Asimmetricos (R), I could have put round concrete donuts on there and it would have been a huge improvement.
Something else I found interesting, it seems the rears are about 1/4 inch wider than the old tires. They are the same size (265/35/18), so perhaps its construction process and tolerance differences between manaufacturers? Anyone else find this?

i bought Hankook ventus V12's 2 years ago for my 964 cuz the Michelin PS2s were both expensive and noisy. (I have another set of wheels w/sport cups for track).
Overall, I am satisfied with the Hankooks...good in dry and wet. PM me if you're nearby and we'll go for a drive.
