its a common problem with the 993....the slave cylinder gets a little dirty and needs the oil changing or replacing..not a massively expensive fix
good luck

I recently had the same problem after I replaced my slave cylinder. There was air in the line and I had to flush the system. the thing to remember when flushing the system is to keep the resevoir topped off at all times. Once the system was flushed, all was good.

Porsche updated the clutch lever installed in the pedal box 3 times to address this issue, once in 1995, again in 1996 and finally in 1997.

Part number 993.423.519.03 was the last, 1997 iteration.

I have the same problem with my 993 -95.

Is it worth trying to grease the "pedalseat", or is it almost all the time problem with air in the slave cylinder?

I recently overhauled my pedal assembly and replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders. Pics are here.

With no fluid in the clutch hydraulic system, the clutch will stay in the depressed state. There are linkages that go over center that will keep the clutch pedal in the fully depressed state without any opposing force provided by the pressure plate via the hydraulic fluid....so I understand it.

If you have just a bit of air in the system and it will depend to what extent, that will be enough to have the pedal not return.

Impossible to say. In my '95, I lubed the pedal and bled the slave cylinder but those just didn't work long term. Finally threw in the towel and replaced the lever, and the problem completely went away.

On my way back from the PPI, my clutch pedal went to the bottom and stayed there. Pumping it got it to work so I could drive back to the dealer. His mechanic flushed the clutch hydraulic system, and there have been no problems since.
