I spent several years in the USAF in the early 70's, as a physician, helping to process people out of VN as the war was 'winding down'. It was a sad time for many, and for their families. Memorial Day, really May 30th, should be held sacred in our country's history, for them and others who sadly followed in the throes of tragic wartime service.

A day of reflection for what we have due to those who gave so much. My freshman year roommate was just married this week. He's been recovering for two years after stepping on an IED and losing both legs. Another classmate who played the church bells with me at West Point sadly lost his life in Afghanistan less than a year after graduation. The nicest man you could ever meet. Be thou at peace, Dave.
I'm glad that we can take today to reflect on those that gave 'the last full measure of devotion' to our nation.

Thanks for serving, you guys are the reason many of us are here today, and thanks for the kind words. The wall in DC is very moving place to visit and a reminder that "all gave some and some gave all"
