Default ? Basic ride height question

I'm in the process of replacing my old OEM shocks on my 96 C4S, and have a question re: ride height for my new setup. I find many posts and specs for ROW heights in mm, but what part on the car is this measured to? I see MM specs from the ground to ?, and in inches from the ground to the apex of the wheel well.
Thanks, in advance. Michael

Wheel arch height is not a mearsurement for setting ride height. Some people use it as a rough estimate for comparison to other 993's. The illustrations Bill posted show the only spots to measure when adjusting ride height. Remember to let the car "settle" by driving it around the block before you finalize ride height adjustment. Also remember that ride height at any corner(s) may change up or down as much as a couple of mm's during the corner balancing process.

The front measurement point is from the top surface of the head of the bolt to the ground. That bolt does not adust anything- it is simply one of the bolts that holds the rack in place.

The rear point is a flat spot that the arrow is pointing to in the bottom illustration in Bill's post.
