Default Coilover springs - if too long, will the resulting "preload" be a problem?

The story: I wanted to soften up my Motons for street driving, so I installed 350F/550R springs. The rears (9" length) are around an inch too long, which causes preload on the collars given my ride height. Seems to me that it's not an issue when the suspension is at normal ride height, but when at full droop, you still have some force trying to extend the travel.

But is that a problem?

I'm interested in hearing others opinions on this as well. Why 9" springs? I believe mine are 6"
