Difference between european and californian cars
HI folks.
I live in France (British but been here for 10 years) and i am on the hunt for a 993 coupé. I have been offered a car which started life in California before being imported to the Uk and then subsequently to France. So it is now fully french registered so no problems with paperwork. However i have heard about different suspension and emissions arrangements for california and wondered if somebody could enlighten me please. The car was first registered on 31/07/95 and the registration number was 3NER807.
Many thanks
Peter

Since the car has already been imported to Europe you are fine as far as correct Euro lights, bumpers, speedo, etc. As for the suspension, the car probably has the USA "ride height" so it's about 1" higher. Of course the car has catalitic converters- which I believe you need in France as well.

IMHO, if you like the car and you had a PPI done and there do not seem to be any inherent problems buy it, enjoy it for what it is and then play around withs any mods that make you happy.

One drawback to a US car is the unfortunate gearing US cars receive with the g50/20 gearbox. Early ROW cars are equipped with the g50/21 gearbox with fewer gaps between gears.
