Any dissent on this is quickly rallied against. Any argument, regardless of how valid or accurate technically, is shot down as being "trollish".

Things like Mikes engine rebuild or the evap replacement...thats good tech. Things like....oooh look, i just conditioned my leather, replaced a tire valve stem cap, and added new wiper blades has become the new norm, along with "what mufflers should i get", "should I use fuel system cleaner", "will an lwfw cause stalling". Its the same questions rehashed.

Quite frankly, it seems to me that many people on here enjoy stroking each others egos about their wonderful style, class, intelligence, whatever, displayed by their ownership of a 993. If you want another one of those, I'm sure you'll find one, but it ain't gonna be me. If you can't handle the dissent, ban me.

otherwise, lets get back to good technical discussion.

OK, let's discuss alignment settings, tire brand/model, and suspension components, and how they relate to ride comfort v. roadholding across the myriad of choices we use on this series of 911.

(Sometimes you just want to hang out in a virtual bar, right?)

Gee that tune changed quickly... Do you want to get back to good technical discussions (or just "useful to SOME degree")? Or back to the arguments you like to start?

How about the irony of Bonnie starting a thread concerning what is great about the 993 Board, and the jerkie boy has to derail it by proclaiming how much he enjoys starting arguments here.

Ban the nitwit, John.

I have to say that our long time rennlister Mark in Baltimore has a interesting way of just igniting his own type of controversy and then sit back and shoot arrows at those who do not agree with him.

And when I mention this, M in B will begin his attack on me for just raising the concern that his comments are too nasty.

Read all the posts that quadcammer has generated. Does he have a different view - yes. Is there some interesting perspectives that are worthy of debate - I think so. Does he drink the 993 kool-aid and believe that his sh$t don't stink ---no.

Read the 1st post that Quadcammer had on this thread and ask yourself where the negative comments thereafter come from.

Maybe you should change the name of this forum to the "Mark in Baltimore" discussion forum. The moderators give M in B a bit too much leeway.

Too bad an innocent thread turns ugly again. Thanks. Mark in Baltimore. From your friend Mark (in NJ).

You mean like the post last week where, out of the blue, Quadcammer accused a Rennlister of still being "buttsore" from his arguing about Mustangs. Yeah that's a different point of view.

If we have to have a new name, I'm choosing the Mark in Baltimore Forum. The Quadcammer Forum is for immature asshats.

Most of the threads I start (which turn into arguments) are technical in nature or at least ask for objective data. Some of the tech is very useful, some of its rubbish or plain wrong, and the rest is generally ok. But I'd prefer a mediocre tech discussion over any "why do you love your 993" thread.

wow, you seem to have a lot of opinions about who should be banned.

I swear you guys are incapable of having a heated argument where people disagree, and then being totally fine the next day. I argue and debate things with friends all the time....and yet, we remain friends. I'm not sure why everybody has to be so sensitive. At the end of the day, its just a silly machine.

Personally, I think a good argument where well spoken and thoughout statements from BOTH sides comes up adds MUCH more to a forum than a guy saying "golly gee whiz I love my 993" and 199 "+1" messages following it up, but it seems thats what you guys are looking for from this forum.

Yeap, the thread that your buddy started regarding narrow body vs wide body was very valid and technically accurate

The last 993 was made in 1998. Most "technical stuff" has been done by someone and posted on the board. Not much innovation is left either as frankly tuners and such are moving to more profitable/newer models. Lots of new owners that come to experience and enjoy their "new" 911's have the same questions that I had when I bought my first 993 back 12 years ago. As the models age even more, most of the same questions will continue to be asked. Frankly sometimes even the search function will confused some needing a straight answer.

So yes, some will ask exactly the same questions, some will post about the wear and tear items on interiors etc, with our aging cars, some "technical" discussions may actually revolve around cosmetics and not only a "rebuilt" which frankly few have the knowledge, time and courage to perform.
This fact alone do not make these conversations not worthy. Trolling and provoking people does.

There is nothing wrong with people taking pride in their rides. Without that there would be no car shows, frankly there would not be much of anything in life. You may not want to be part of it, that is fine, stay out, dont say anything that would not add to the discussion.

You need to get banned or get out or change completely your tune and attitude towards this community. Obviously you dont enjoy this place and you need "dissent" to stroke your ego. That is not the place for that and there are plenty other forums for you to enjoy. You should take a hint really from other people's comments about your "dissent" .

The choice is yours.

wow, the mustang thing is a PERFECT example.

The individual that I called "butthurt" and I have had a number of arguments about the merits of mustangs. This primarily came about because I used to have a mustang, and I stated that modern mustangs offer very good performance...much above a 993. I was summarily told that mustangs suck ***** because they are fords and that I should go back to a mustang forum. Yet, while using objective data, my arguments were supported.

Now...for him to bring this up in a completely unrelated thread is pretty lame, no? Somehow you didn't have a problem with that though, right mike?

As for MIB, don't care for him one bit, but I don't think he should be banned.

The height of irony is you calling me names like "asshat" and then telling me I'm immature.

Isn't that what this "Air/Oil Cooled Technical Discussion Areas" is supposed to be about? Key word being "Technical"!

Actually I agree with you on Mustangs. Like 911s, a flawed design brilliantly executed.

As to having opinions on who should be banned, I was a highly trained, unpaid professional. I was Rennlist moderator for a number of years. (I stopped being a moderator when I became a Rennlist sponsor)

And sorry dude, when you unprompted started accusing people of being "buttsore", you became an immature asshat.

I have only been aware of this forum for a little over a year, although I have owned 7 911's. I pick up my I-Pad at least 10 times a day to see new posts. The advice on offer here has been quite valuable to me. I wouldn't say it saves me money, but I have a better car from following the advice given here.

Quadcammer is occasionally provocative but never as rude as some of the posts I've read from others. His presence here is a big plus in my opinion. He has knowledge that he is generous in sharing and he is quick to call bull$hit when it is called for. I have always liked a guy who calls it as he sees it, even when his popularity would suffer. Arguments, or dialectic if you will, is how one proceeds toward the truth.

There are some pretty silly threads that get started, but I don't have to read them, just as no one has to read Quadcammer. I'm just now reminded of Rodney King...Can't we all just get along?

Looks like we have a candidate for Super Moderator!

Nicely said. Mark
