Default Brake Warning Light and Brake Fluid

It was recommended several months ago that I change my brake fluid as the amount of water in the line was determined to be more than 2%. Recently, my brake warning light comes on fairly frequently (and ABS light is on too, but front left speed sensor shows faulty with the Durametric and cleaning did not fix it). Brake pads are fine. Brake sensor wires seem to be OK upon inspection. Would the break fluid/water issue potentially cause the brake warning light to illuminate?

Thanks,

KMS
