I've no idea what is "correct", or not. They do look just like the wheel I looked at when I first decided to go this route, pictured at the start of this thread.

Love the new finish ED, you're 993 looks real sharp. The shiny glossy look compliments midnight blue soo nicely. I need to find a set of Cup II's, love the classic style
Ive got my wheels prepped up, about to paint the spokes a beautiful satin black (0-BASF paint<- great paint) them this next weekend cant wait to get them done and mounted Thanks for the pictures, added them to my 993 folder

Ed, "correct" is probably is an incorrect word here

Most hypersilver wheels I see around are pretty shiny. Not dark-chrome-like, but shiny. Original Cup 2s are fairly matte. I'm trying to figure what your end result is with hypersilver cup 2s - matte or shiny? Hard to tell from the pics.

I also need to figure if these would look right on a Speed Yellow car. Glossy black with polished lips do look good, I know that much.

I'm thinking they'd look great! But you jump first.

I'm thinking of jumping, actually. Lessee here. I have 3 sets of 18s and a winter set of 17th. I need a fifth set of wheels for a street car like I need a hole in my head.

But me being me... I'm trying to make a deal for Cup2 replicas right now to put autocross tires on. They might get painted, possibly in this color.

They definitely have more shine than stock matte, but obviously less than chrome. Maybe somewhere in the middle? But, the clear gives them a depth somewhat like candy paint. It's hard to capture on a camera.

Ed, thanks!

I think I'll try it on the next set of wheels I refinish.

^^^ wow. Ok .. I'll throw that one on my bucket list as well :-P

Having said that, those factory Hyper Silver wheels look too blingy to me .. I think I like Ed's version better. A little darker, not as shiny-bright ..
Hey Ed .. did Velvet Touch give you a range of shade and lustre to choose from or is what you got from them just 'the way they do it' ... ?

Yes, heard back this morning:

"There is no paint code for these. There is a special type of paint that needs to be used and the effect comes from the amount of hyper that is applied over the black. Its a rather tricky process."

I guess he's like a magician, not divulging his tricks.
